A New World

It took awhile for me to understand
What had happened
But as each day passed
I came to realize more and more
That I was in for a journey.
I could hear muffled sounds
Coming from without.
I never seemed to be hungry
Rolled up like a little ball.
And again, with time, I could move
My arms and legs and started kicking.
Sounds of laughter greeted my ears.
I wish I knew what awaited me.
Its been so peaceful up to now.
I didn't have to wait long
I felt a sudden slap
And I began to cry.
A rude awakening to my new world.
